Abductor muscles play an important role in our bodies because they are the ones that pull our bodies towards the axis of an extremity. The three main hip abductor muscles found in our bodies are the gluteus minimus, gluteus medius, and tensor fascie latae muscles.
When we grow old, the muscles become weak. Sports such as athletics, ballet dancers, football, and basketball can also make our muscles weak apart from aging. Because of the repeated tilting of the pelvis, such sports weaken the muscles. The abductor muscles are also weakened by vigorous training exercise because they create micro tears.
